Wedding Group Responsibilities
Maid (Matron) of Honor
- Helps bride in choosing bridal gown and jewelry.
- Helps address invitations and place cards.
- Attends rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
- Plans bridal shower and bachelorette party for the bride.
- Records wedding gifts for the couple.
- Arrives to dressing site 2 hours before wedding ceremony to assist the bride.
- Arrives to ceremony site early to assist with decoration.
- Helps decorate wedding favors and organize bridesmaid and their gowns.
- Arranges bride’s train throughout the ceremony.
- Holds bride’s bouquet during the ceremony.
- Holds the groom’s wedding ring if there is no ring bearer.
- Signs the marriage license as an official witness.
- Makes a toast after the Best man during wedding reception.
- Dances with the best man during bridal party.
- Helps bride change into get away clothes.
Best Man
- Plans the bachelor party for the groom.
- Attends rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
- Arranges transportation for groom to the ceremony site and for the couple to the reception.
- Arrives to ceremony site early to assist with decoration.
- Brings marriage license to the ceremony.
- Pays for all services for the wedding such as musicians and photographer.
- Holds the bride’s wedding ring if there is no ring bearer.
- Organizes groomsmen and ushers.
- Escorts Maid of Honor during recessional.
- Makes the first toast during wedding reception.
- Dances with the Maid of Honor during bridal party.
- Arranges transportation for newlyweds for after the reception.
- Organize and return rented wedding attire for all men in the wedding.
Bridesmaids
- Assist Maid of Honor to plan for bridal shower and bachelorette party.
- Attends rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
- Assist bride in errands and any tasks needed such as reception hall decoration and wedding favors.
- Participate in all pre-wedding parties.
- Arrive to dressing site early to assist bride.
- Arrive to ceremony site early.
- Walk behind ushers and before Maid of Honor, flower girl and ring bearer during processional.
- Dance with the ushers during reception.
Groomsmen and Ushers
- Assist Best Man to plan for bachelor party.
- Attends rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
- Arrive to ceremony site early and distribute wedding programs.
- Decorate the newlywed’s car
- Seats the guest at the wedding ceremony as follows:
o Single females are escorted on the right
o Single males should walk on your right side
o If it is a couple escort the female on the right with the male following behind
o Bride’s guests are seated on the left
o Groom’s guests are seated on the right
o First few rows are reserved for family members.
- Roll the carpet down the aisle.
- Escort bridesmaids during the recessional.
- Direct guests to reception site.
- Dance with the bridesmaids during reception.
