As your wedding day gets closer, you should get prepared for your wedding speech. A well prepared and rehearsed speech will make sure you don’t freeze during your speech. It won’t be as hard as you think if you follow a few basic rules:
Relax
Relax and take a deep breath before your speech. A wedding speech is easier than other public speeches since you are speaking in front of friends and family and they expect you to be nervous.
Make your guests laugh
By starting out with a funny line, you can take the pressure off of yourself and keep the ambiance relaxed.
Use prompt cards
If you’re afraid you might forget your speech, you can bring prompt cards with key points on it to remind you. You should face forward and make eye contact during your speech. Try not to just read from your prompt cards.
Keep it Short and Upbeat
You should keep your speech short and sweet. A short speech won’t lose your guest’s attention and bore them to sleep. The contents of your speech should also be upbeat and try to avoid rude or sarcastic comments.
Thank everyone
Thank all the appropriate people at the end of your speech, such as the bridal party, key organizers, and people who traveled from afar. The groom should also make a nice comment on the Bride.
